Opening Doors in BioPharma

BioLaunch CT is a job training program of ConnCAT, Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology, Inc. ConnCAT’s bioscience training program has been designed to fulfill the market demand for trained professionals in laboratory operations. The program emphasizes bioscience skills while producing well-rounded professionals, equipped to enter the fast-paced, biotech and biopharmaceutical environment.

About BioLaunch

What is BioLaunch?

  • A state-funded partnership of local biotech companies (co-located next to Biolabs Incubator - 101 College Street) to create an internship program for New Haven residents  
  • The Program is overseen by a board of industry partners dedicated to developing a local workforce to staff New Haven’s growing biotech industry 
  • The Board is responsible for setting the curriculum for the Training/Internship 
  • Post-placement support for BioLaunch graduates is an integral part of the program 
  • BioLaunch will have a Community Allyship Program to facilitate community/industry engagement and further support BioLaunch trainees
  • Brought to you by the Office of Workforce Strategy in collaboration with the Office of the Governor and the General Assembly. Our Mission

  • Developing a local workforce to support the growth of the biotech industry in New Haven 
  • Providing training to New Haven residents for employment within the local biotech industry 
  • Creation of local, well-paying technical jobs that do not require a college degree or other out-of-pocket training costs to ensure New Haven residents have access to good paying jobs

Enrollment

BioLaunch CT enrolls participants who are enthusiastic about opportunities in the field of biotechnology, interested in learning the skills of lab operations, and willing to make the commitment required to complete vocational training

Enrollment and success at BioLaunch CT does not require formal training in the sciences. We will provide the basic science skills necessary to work with confidence in technical and research lab settings.

We will use basic skills in math, reading comprehension, communication, problem solving, and computer and other technologies. Being able to read, understand what you are reading, and do basic math will be important.

In order to enroll, applicants must have a high school diploma or passing scores on all sections of the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) or General Education Development (GED) exam, and be eligible to work legally in the United States.
